Gov. Presby Velasco and Cong. Lord Allan Velasco to Switch Positions in 2025 Elections

 

BOAC, Marinduque -- In an announcement made on Tuesday, September 17, during his radio program, Governor Presbitero Velasco Jr. revealed that he and Congressman Lord Allan Velasco will switch positions in the upcoming 2025 elections. The move comes as Cong. Velasco reaches the constitutional limit of three consecutive terms in the House of Representatives.

The Governor, in response to a listener's question, confirmed the decision: "Pupunta po muna tayo sa House of Representatives dahil si Cong. Lord Allan po ay 3 terms ng congressman. May term limit po sa constitution na hanggang 3 terms lang po na consecutive. So magpapalit po muna kami ni Cong. Lord, siya muna ang maggo-governor at ako po ay pupunta muna sa kongreso."

Gov. Velasco was first elected as the Governor of Marinduque in 2019 and secured re-election in 2022. Meanwhile, Cong. Lord Allan Velasco, after serving his third term as Congressman, is set to run for the governorship, marking a significant reshuffling of the province's political leadership. (DERE)
